March 6th-INCORPORATING SOUND INTO A HEALING PRACTICE
A
brief overview of some ways sound is being used to amplify physical, energetic,
emotional and/or spiritual healing in a variety of settings such as medicine,
massage, acupuncture, psychotherapy. Guidelines will be offered to help
evaluate tools and resources to anyone interested increasing their conscious
use of sound in a professional or personal healing practice.
Marline
Lesh has always been drawn to sound and has nurtured herself with music.
Music, speech, language, hearing and the physics of sound (psychoacoustics)
have been part of her formal and informal studies over the years. She
earned a bachelor's degree in Speech, worked as an audiologist's assistant,
taught deaf children. She sang in choirs and performed both solo and in
a variety of musical ensembles. In 1992, Marline's interest turned fully
toward sound. Since then she has been coaching voice, leading sound gatherings
and workshops, and studying, writing and speaking about sound. Marline
has studied with many sound teachers, including pioneers like Kay Gardner,
Jonathon Goldman, David Hykes, and Tom Kenyon. A major figure in the establishment
and growth of Sound Healers of Washington (SHOW), Marline initiated the
SHOW newsletter and webpage. Since the year 2000 Marline has become a

March 13-The Whistling Vessels
Peruvian Whistling Vessels, a group of ancient earthenware vessels have
been found to be "psycho-acoustical" instruments which induce
an altered state of consciousness. These seemingly simple devices are
highly sophisticated tools that have been used for at least 2,500 years
in several Andean cultures from Ecuador to southern Peru. The sounds of
the seven whistles played together by participants create what often described
as a centering of consciousness or Zen-like state of clarity" for
everyone in the room. As they are blown, some interesting overtones are
produced. The higher notes interact to produce a deep, low frequency sounds
that cannot be tape-recorded but are heard only in the inner ear of the
participants ... a low, fluttering hum.
Paul
Robear's 27-year personal journey into spiritwork includes meditation,
yoga, breathwork, cross-cultural religious studies and ceremony which
has lead him to work with the Whistling Vessels. Paul, with wife, Laura
Lee, will share a set of these unique devices for direct experience by
participants as well as the story and science behind them.

March 20th-Weaving the Sacred Union of Sound Healing and Subtle Energy
A
discussion and exploration of the healing potential of rhythmic and drone
sounds in conjunction with the hands-on-healing method of Reiki.
Ripples
of sound waves envelop your body, the vibrations gently relaxing your
being as you drift inward towards your center. By combining a mix of toning
voices, drums and rattles participants will become propelled into their
own altered states and receive insights and experiences of their higher
selves.
This is a truly unique way to participate in and experience a healing
sound bath.
Eileen
Wurst, M.A. is a bodywork counselor and Reiki master in private practice
at the Seattle Holistic Center. This workshop is based on "Reiki
Sound Jams" she has been facilitating for several years. They are
transformational healing events held monthly, in which students apply
sound from instruments such as drums, bowls, tuning forks as well as their
own voices while applying the hands-on-healing method of Reiki to other
participants.
